My worst nightmare

Yesterday we bought Kelty her "Big Girl Bed". I have been putting it off as long as possible but I finally decided that I better get her used to it before we move to New Jersey. Well of course last night was the WORST night ever! She did not go to bed until 11:00pm...I had to keep going in there and putting her back in her bed. Then at 4:00am I found her running around her room again. I proceeded to put her back into her bed over and over again until she finally fell back asleep at about 5:30am... what a nightmare this is going to be:(
Any suggestions on getting her to stay in her bed? She gets up and turns on the lights...anyone have any luck with night lights?

Oh man, this is my worst nightmare too. I am waiting as long as humanly possible to get Gwen a real bed.

I watched a nanny 911 just this week and the parents had this problem too. They had the mom or dad put the kid to bed and say its night time then they sat in the little kid's room on the floor with their back to the kid and every time they got out of bed they put them back without a word. It took almost two hours the first night but it took less and less time each night thereafter. Who knows if it really works but it seemed too! Good luck. :)

The cutest room ever. You are so good with making things look good.

I don't have any suggestions - which is why Levi's still in a crib. I was thinking of switching him over, also, before we leave, but with a new baby, I didn't want to have double the night problems. Good luck!

What a way cute room!! What I did with luke was put his bed against the wall and put a little bed gate on the other side (you know what I am talking about)on the top of the bed I lined with 2 pillows and the bottom too so he couldnt roll off and try to make it feel like he was still is a crib. Haha I dont know if that will help. Good luck!

I just laughed out loud!!! I'd love to see her running around her room at 4 in the morning! Oh and your friend Laura is right. Just keep putting her back in and make as little drama as possible or she'll keep doing it. Consistency is what will help here. You'll just have to suffer through some fun nights until she gets it. Good luck and good idea to get her ready before you go!

Hey Jessica. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. Thanks for your cute comment. We would love to come play with Kelty and Walker! We are so bored and sick of this cold weather too!!! I love Kelty's bed! It is so cute. What a lucky girl. We had a few nights too of going to bed at 11pm, you just have to suffer through and she will eventually get it. Some days I wouldn't let Nick nap so he was tired enough to just pass out at bedtime. I don't really recommend that though cause he was a nightmare the next day. That kid needs his 15 hours of sleep still!!! I want to go to the legacy center, that looked like so much fun! Nick loves the water! Next time you go call me!

Hey Jess! Your light problem is easy...We unscrew the lightbulbs :-) Everything new is always exciting, so just hang in there. The new bed novelty will wear off, I wouldn't keep walking in to put her to bed. That's just giving her attention that will increase the behavior your trying to get rid of. If she sleeps with a favorite blanket or animal, you can threaten to take that away if she gets off the bed--but then you MUST follow-thru and be mean and take it away. We've done that and there are many tears that first night, but they don't test you again!

I love that little trouble maker, just look at that smirk on her face. What an adorable bad girl.

Oh what a stinker! Haha. She is so cute so it makes being a stinker even cuter.

When Danny got home tonight he answered his phone and said, "Yeah we'll bring a veggie platter." I asked him who it was and he said, "Oh yeah we're going to Matt and Jessica's tomorrow." I fell for it. It was really for his grandma's house. But then I got sad bc we weren't coming to your house. When do you leave? I hope that made some sense.

I am laughing so hard right now! I am sorry Jess...I don't have any tips because I have no experience with this, but thanks for the laugh! She is a doll and her room is absolutely adorable! Good luck and I am sure you will figure it out!
